  • Kairos, the right time to start evolutionary living

When did you know?  When was the moment?  If you found this site either you’re already on the “evolutionary journey”, or perhaps you’re searching for the sign post for the beginning of the trail.   If you’ve already gone paleo, perhaps you’ve encouraged others to do so.  Probably at one time in your quest to baptise the corn-fed, you seriously bothered and/or freaked the heck out of your friends, family and work colleagues, no doubt!  You might have saved a few, but there were countless others that “failed” to hear the message that you so eagerly wanted them to hear.  And you say to yourself, “How can they not understand it?  Why, it’s so simple!”

And at that moment, you’ve forgotten how lost you once were.  How high the sugar highs used to be.  How low the drops and how your change in mood fell like a stone.  How the rolls at dinner turned to belly rolls.  How all of what EF, or Paleo, or HIT was hearsay to what your spoonfed dietary dogma preached.

So, if you can “see” now, but you were once blind like the others, what changed?

Was it the argument made by a wise teacher?  Was it the example of a trusted friend?  Was it a Eureka! moment?  Was it “rock bottom” that resulted in scraping for the walls to climb your way out of a hole?  Was it simply a forwarded email with a link that led you down a search that cascaded to a deep pool of knowledge?

Kairos (καιρός) is an ancient Greek word meaning the right or opportune moment (the supreme moment). The ancient Greeks had two words for time, chronos and kairos. While the former refers to chronological or sequential time, the latter signifies a time in between, a moment of undetermined period of time in which something special happens. What the special something is depends on who is using the word. While chronos is quantitative, kairos has a qualitative nature.  -excerpted from wikipedia

How would you describe your kairos moment when evolutionary living made sense?  I think it goes against the definition of the word to imply that it’s necessarily possible to recreate kairos so that another individual may hear the trumpet that you’ve been listening to echo throughout the mountains, whereas that individual you have in mind only hears the whistling of wind.

There may be multiple ways to find the trailhead, there may be multiple trailheads and multiple trails!  I hope this site helps you find the markers if you haven’t already found them.  Perhaps, it’ll point you to another site that may.  Perhaps, The Paleo Garden may help your loved one begin gathering some precursors that will combust into your Evolutionary Kairos.   Just don’t push yourself, or anyone else there.  When you’re ready to really read the signs before you, you’ll see things written on sign posts where you never did before.  You’ll see your trail set out before you.
