The Paleo Garden is an experimental collective of professionals in the legal, medical, consulting and writing communities.  Grounded in the paleo/primal/EF philosophy, The Paleo Garden aims to ‘unite the clans’ with a focus on health, nutrition, fitness, agricultural reform and getting right with the world.  We embrace Georges Hebert’s philosophy of “Be strong to be useful.”  We are prone to discussion of foundational myths and theories of social organization as well as diet and fitness.

Lorette C. Luzajic

lorette-biopic1

Lorette C. Luzajic writes from Toronto, Ontario. A former vegetarian, she’d been a reluctant carnivore for several years. In early 2008 she found true health after removing gluten from her diet, nullifying a lifetime of mysterious ailments and diseases. She scaled back on other grains, lost her fear of animal fat and protein, and is now a proponent of nature’s heritage diet.

Lorette studied journalism at Ryerson University in Toronto, where she resides. She is also a self-taught artist and a widely published poet. She is the author of two books- the acclaimed Astronaut’s Wife: Poems of Eros and Thanatos, and Weird Monologues for a Rainy Life (irreverent ramblings from the end of the world.) A follow-up collection of essays and musings will be released later this year, called Dendrite Pandemonium: Hits, Misses, and Random B-Sides. You can order her books at www.thegirlcanwrite.net, or through Amazon.com. She is currently working on her fourth book, a collection of short stories, and of course, the Great Canadian Novel.

Zachary

Zachary is an adherent of evolutionary fitness as taught by Professor Arthur De Vany (it should be noted that this is mentioned for the sole purpose of properly crediting Dr. De Vany as an influence, and in no way does it imply an endorsement by him of our work or this site).  Zachary applies his analytical background and desire to see the world through the eyes of a polymath to enjoy modern life in The Paleo Garden.

Uncle Lew

Uncle Lew, or Dyadya Lew (Дядя Лу) was able to pass for normal until two days after graduating from law school, whereupon he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.  Aside from his wife and children, his greatest joys are thinking about things, and sharing ideas, insights, and the occasional joke with people.  He pirated his personal philosophy from the Bill & Ted movies:  “Be excellent to each other.”  He is a gun nut, lately venturing into swords with a strong undercurrent of interest in spears.  His column, “Wolves Among Dogs” will appear with fractally chaotic irregularity, as most things in life do.  He has the nerve to think he looks the business in a kilt.

Dr. Paul Gibbs

Dr. Paul Gibbs is a Periodontist, practicing in North Carolina since 1998. Besides an insatiable love of music, he spends a great deal of spare time exploring physics, biochemistry, nutrition and physiology. “I have a firm belief that health is your own responsibility; you only have one body. Learn what to eat, what to do, and how to think, so you can be strong and be of use in this world.” Dr. Gibbs spends most of his time doing clinical Periodontics (including a great deal of continuing education) and with his family where he works tirelessly to keep high fructose containing products from going into their mouths. He has a strong interest in nutrition stemming from health interests and his mother being a Nutrition professor (retired).

He has many physical practices including: weight training, walking and hiking (often barefoot), and exploring the joys of playing with his kids in activities like Parkour, climbing (just about anything), and physical contests.
